A Call to Action
In 2011 it seems that we are all very busy just existing from day to day. Life seems to be just about putting food on the table, overcomitting personally and trying to do the best we can to 'live life' to the fullest. Nice Home, Fast Car, great school for the kids, be the best parent and spouse in the world. Cable TV, Broadband, Fridge with a TV in it! Stop, if you have one then listen on! My question to you today is...WHY?
Family & Friends
Recently, I went to a couple of family weddings. The first wedding was my nephew, now 34. The wedding was in Wollongong, my nephew's name is Ben, he is my brother Wayne's first son, he has two boys, the other boy is Shannon. They are both outstanding boys, men even! I have not seen my brother and his family for 5 years. This was a great night, a night that should happen at least annually. I made many promises that night, this time I really hope to deliver on those promises, they matter to me. Ben is now married to Sue. (Sue welcome to the family. You look so happy together. Sue, your Mum and Dad are very cool, I look forward to seeing you all again soon)
The second wedding was in a place called Bermagui, I know what you are thinking right now! It is 2 hours south of Nowra in NSW, I hope you and your family have the privilege to go there one day, it is a beautiful part of the World. My eldest brother Gary's daughter Emma, married a boy called Josh, they are a wonderful couple. Smart, funny and deeply in love! Emma has two wonderful brothers Patrick and Nick. To be honest I cried all day, from 11.00am to 11.00pm, I am not exaggerating. The reason, I am Emma's Godfather, I have held that responsibility since I was 15. The reality is that I have spent a total of 60 hours with Emma since I accepted that responsibility. I am now 43.
The point of this month's story is to inspire Action. Whilst I practise and preach leadership in my professional life, I feel I have much to learn in translating that into action in my family life. Life is busy, confusing and challenging but we must try to stay true to the people that matter. It has and always will be about people. Take a moment and think, who are the people that matter to you? Mend a relationship, build a bridge and focus on what will make you feel good at your 'core' This is what truly matters.
Action attracts ‘good things’
Similar to the law of attraction, there is an even greater force that happens when you decide to take action. The universe begins to deliver to you all the people that you need to complete your objective. When you take action, suddenly important contacts you need, begin to appear to help you achieve results. Today is your day, go on 'take action' and live life to the fullest, you only have one chance!
